Pavol Donko

About me

I'm a Senior Product Designer based in Brno, Czech Republic. For 15+ years I've been designing enterprise software – the kind of tools people rely on to do real work, every day.

What I do

Design, for me, isn't just producing screens. I run workshops, talk to users, sit with engineers while they build, and keep showing up after launch – reading the data, watching how people actually use it, and iterating from there.

Currently at Kontent.ai, where I:

  • Design the workflows content teams use to publish across multiple channels
  • Look after the design system – components, usage guidelines, and the designers who rely on them
  • Make sure accessibility is a first–class concern, not a checklist at the end

Experience

  • Senior Product Designer – Kontent.ai, Brno (2023–present)
Product and design system work for an enterprise headless CMS. Driving accessibility across the platform.
  • Lead UX Designer – Kentico, Brno (2015–2023)
Redesigned Kentico Kontent (now Kontent.ai) and worked across multiple product initiatives. Made sure the experience stayed coherent across the product.
  • UX Designer – Mavenir, Brno (2013–2015)
Solo UX team responsible for the entire design process across various telecom dashboards.
  • UX & UI Designer, Co–founder – Celebrio, Brno (2011–2013)
OS for elderly people. Led a team of 5 designers. Full process: research, prototyping, usability testing.

Teaching & mentoring

  • Tutor and Mentor, Comprehensive UX Course – Czechitas, Brno (2018)
  • Seminar Tutor, HCI Laboratory – Masaryk University, Brno (2010–2017)
  • Tutor, Practical UX Course – Masaryk University, Brno (2014)

Approach

I start with a lot of questions. If the brief is solving the wrong problem, I'll say so. I want to understand who we're building for before I decide what it should look like – and I stay close to engineering and product the whole way through.

Outside work

Biohacking, healthspan optimisation, sauna, snowboarding, backpacking, photography, everything Italian, and too many notes in a Zettelkasten.
